Entangled in Growth: The full collection review

This is the first limited collection we've released since Baseline launched. It's been almost a year in the making, and it's the one we're most proud of so far. Here's the story behind it, and why every piece in it was built the way it was.

Growth Doesn't Move in a Straight Line

Growth doesn't happen in one place. It doesn't wait for the right moment, and it never moves in a straight line. It happens in the gym, on the platform, in your recovery, in your sleep, in the choices you make when no one's watching. It surrounds you. Once you start looking for it, you see it everywhere.

The two snakes represent the many paths of growth, pulling in different directions at once. Wrapping around each other the same way your goals do. Strength, mobility, mindset, discipline. They don't grow one at a time. They grow entangled, tangled up in each other, moving forward without a straight line or clear progress.

That's what growth looks like for athletes. Not a clean line from where you started to where you're going, but a knot you have to keep working through. Some days it feels like a restriction. Some days will feel like you’re getting nowhere. But you don't get to the other side by avoiding the tangle. You get there by moving through it.

The cracked, marble-like lettering carries the second half of the story: sculpting you. Marble isn't shaped without hard work. It's cut, pressured, chipped away at, until what's underneath finally shows. Every crack in the surface is proof of the process. An athlete is built the same way, under pressure, through setbacks, one imperfect rep at a time, until the shape that was always underneath finally comes through.

Entangled in Growth is about both of those truths at once: growth is everywhere around you, pulling you in every direction, and it's also what sculpts you into the athlete you're becoming, on your own terms.

Almost a year in the making

After the official launch of the brand last year, we quickly wanted to start working on new quality products. Knowing that developing new models and items could take some time, we figured that starting early would help speed up the process and hopefully bring new stuff soon. 

Every Baseline piece is designed in-house instead of picked from a blank catalogue and printed on. This means everything from fabric quality, composition and weight, to fit, design and prints are custom and need proper attention. This process is slower, but delivers unique items engineered to the needs of athletes and our high quality standard. 

Take the back graphic on the hoodie. We went through five rounds of samples for just this print alone before we found the desired outcome. We played around with different printing techniques in order to make it special, and found a subtle puff print technique could give the snakeskin real texture instead of just the look. Getting that texture right without losing the sharpness of the marble lettering underneath took more attempts than we expected, but the final result makes this a unique piece.

Taking the time to improve every detail is part of how we want to build the brand. Setting the New Athlete Standard is an ambitious goal, but only reachable if we keep progressing and updating everything we can. 

The Collection

The Hoodie is the centerpiece of the collection, and the piece we spent the most time getting right. Cut in an extra oversized fit, made from 450gsm heavyweight cotton, built for the time around training rather than the workout itself and granting comfort. The back carries the signature graphic, complete with textured snakeskin. The front carries the small snake shaped Baseline logo, and the sleeve carries the cracked Baseline print. It's the piece that tells the whole story on one garment.

The tees carry the same story in a simpler form. With this collection we introduce not only the familiar Oversized Tee, but also the new Cropped Tee model. We featured the cracked Baseline print on the back of both tees to tell a unified story. The Tees are made for performance, which is why the sculpting part of the story and its graphic makes most sense for these garments. 

The patches complete the collection and serve as the finishing touch. A detailed and structured PVC model was made for the highest quality patch. Carry them wherever you go. 

What's Next

This collection will be available in phases. We will present the collection during the Nationals Triplets Finals this weekend, followed by early access for anyone on our email list, before it opens to everyone on September 1st.
